FEATURE FILM ABOUT LIFE + ScreenTalk with dir. Dovile Sarutyte
After the sudden loss of her father, a young woman is trapped between grief and absurdity as she tries to organise his funeral.
Set in the days leading to the funeral, A Feature Film About Life follows Dovile (Agnė Misiūnaitė) as she travels around town completing tasks as new encounters bring absurdity and numbness, and old ones recall ghosts of the past.
At once a captivating piece of autofiction and a portrait of a society, the film explores the unexpected triviality and bureaucracy that often come with death. One of the most impressive debuts we’ve seen in a while creates a space where life and fiction intertwine, as the director’s family archive subtly finds its way into the story.
This screening is presented in collaboration with the Lithuanian Culture Institute and the Lithuanian Film Centre.
